A closer look at the wall

It is very hard to comment on this monstrosity of a wall for the simple fact there is nothing to compare it to. I don't think there exists or has ever existed anything like it. You can point to the Berlin Wall or the Great Wall of China but these barriers were placed on borders ( in the case of Berlin it was the dividing line between the east and west). This wall dissects the West Bank into several bantustans/prisons/reservations/enclaves or whatever term you want to use.  That means it not only disrupts movement into Israel but between one Arab town to the next. This barrier along with 500 checkpoints prevent any freedom of movement inside of the occupied West Bank. This is unprecedented. This is why this is not a defensive barrier for Israel but simply another tool in the military occupation arsenal to make life miserable for the natives on top of the fact it consolidates stolen lands.

The Palestinian cause in a nutshell

A Palestinian rioter accidentally set himself on fire after attempting to throw a Molotov cocktail at IDF soldiers during clashes in Hebron Tuesday afternoon. This is the perfect analogy to what has been happening with the Palestinian people. Their leadership over and over again has led their people to self-destruct and self-injure themselves. They need to learn violence is self-defeating. Winning the moral high ground is crucial to ending the occupation. What has been gained from violence? Recent attacks against Jews using knives highlights an even more disturbing picture. The definition of insanity should be taking a knife to a gunfight. Or should be throwing rocks at tanks and F-16's? This is complete insanity for Palestinian leaders living in their comfortable villas to be inciting more attacks against the IDF or Israeli's. Hamas urging the people to resist - and the glorification of martyrdom has reached  a level of being a religion of death. It's a sick culture and reflects the deep trauma of loss and humiliation. Palestinians have yet to accept they lost and continue to lose in such battles against Israel. They refuse to accept it. They are in denial to accept the struggle of regaining territory is over.  The best they can do is hope to regain some dignity, some freedom, some mobility, some justice, some equality and some form of peaceful co-existence. The idea they can reconquer what has been lost is delusional. The idea they can all return to their homes pre 1948 is delusional. The idea they can defeat Israel or exact revenge on Israel or drive out the colonial Jews is delusional. They need to deal with the reality at hand as a defeated people. All the bluster and bravado serves only to bring more misery to their daily lives.

Arab kids in Jerusalem criminals or terrorists?

Very disturbing and very difficult to watch. A tale of two cities:" It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Those Arab butchers are Israeli citizens. The united Jerusalem mantra needs to be re-examined. Eastern Jerusalem and Western Jerusalem are worlds apart despite the delusions of Israeli's who don't want to acknowledge that fact. The Arab underclass in East Jerusalem has been created by design. Many Jewish Israeli's wish they would just disappear. The truth is unless people feel they are part of something they will react by tearing it apart. In noway is this a justification of the crimes committed by these homicidal sick and twisted teens. The status quo has proven over and over again to be untenable. Israel needs to have a happiness index that competes with the settlement expansion index.

During the Cold War they quoted Charles Dickens and his Tale of Two Cities constantly as justification to overthrow Western countries. Soviet propaganda 101.

You deny a tale of two cities exists in Jerusalem ( and on the macro level the country as a whole between the Arab and Jewish divide)? That is not propaganda. It is reality in Jerusalem. Two people. Two cities. Two languages. Two religions. Two realities.

              Divide and conquer.

The land has been divided and conquered ten times over. No dispute there. What to do with the people from the conquered land is the question? Occupation and second class status is not a sustainable solution as current events tell us.

Isn't it a matter of tolerance?
                        • Avatar
To some degree yes but tolerance takes a back seat to injustices and inequalities people view whether real or imagined. The natives or all people will get restless if their issues are not addressed in a just manner. The system has to work for all it's citizens. Again, that doesn't justify acts of violence in any way. It is what it is.
