There is no left in Israel much less a peace camp on the issue of the Palestinians with the exception of a few brave souls. What is missing in all of the talks between the "left" and right in Israel is the elephant in the room, how both the "left" and right helped create the settlement enterprise. Despite the fact Israeli's ignore the significance of ever expanding settlements in the heart of the West Bank to the prospect of peace, this issue remains the single most blatant example of Israel's intention on the territories. Thus, the Palestinians are not crazy or being paranoid about the genocidal intent of the menacing, land swallowing, character changing, facts on the ground reality that is being shaped by the occupational authority. You don't have to be einstein to understand O +C = A (occupation + colonization = annihilation). This is the dynamic that currently exists. Therefore, no point of talking peace when Israel continues to expand deeper and deeper into Palestinian territory. It's no secret the right wants all the land without the people. The left also doesn't want the people but not sure how much land to keep or give back. The bravest move any Israeli leader can do is to outline Israel's borders. That would let everyone know what they are fighting for - at the least. If Herzog is the man, he needs to step up and say where Israel's borders are? That is all he has to do. No peace plan. No need for a peace partner. No mumbo jumbo. No process. Spell out Israel's borders? No Israeli leader in the history of Israel ever came close to doing that - except for Rabin. We all know how that ended.
